In 1993, I started my English and German MA (Hons) studies at the University of St Andrews. By 1995, I was teaching English at a whole host of educational establishments and to private clients. My year in Vienna was rather enlightening!

Returning back to the UK in late 1996, I completed my studies and by 1998 I was on my way to London to attempt to find a career.

For the next 20 plus years, I worked in Theatre and Events. From large West End shows, to one man shows at the Fringe. From UK tours to theatre across the world and immersive events.

Then we had 2020, the year which changed a lot, and I thought it was time to consolidate my degree, my year of teaching English in Austria and my professional work to date, with a TEFL course.

If you have a passion for Arts and Culture, West End Theatre, Plays, Musicals, Broadway, the glittering lights of the world of entertainment, you have come to the right place! The good thing is, I will teach you English at the same time!

I am looking to develop an audience development arm of the company, to bring English students to the West End to experience live theatre as part of the journey to becoming fluent speakers of English.

After studying English language & literature at Liverpool University, I began a long career in the theatre - doing everything from selling tickets to developing West End shows.

In 2011 I worked for a year at the UK charity "Comic Relief"  which made me think I might be able to use my many and varied experiences elsewhere in the world.

I spent a year in Bolivia, teaching English to local children with a charity called Bibloworks and in 2014 completed a CELTA course in the Netherlands.  I taught English in the Language Centre of British School in Den Haag - adults and children - and at their renowned summer school in 2018.

I now live in Berlin where I have been trying to learn German - an eye-opening experience of learning on the other side of the desk!

Starting with a career in journalism, PR and advertising, I’ve worked in many different areas, from Associate Director of The Conran Design Group, PR for Gucci Fragrances and Butlers Wharf, to launching a trade publication for a major publisher and being researcher/front of camera on a BBC/NBC documentary in Eastern Turkey.

I went to the University of Sussex as a mature student, taking Media Studies and Media Law, achieving a 2:1 and making a film, which was on TV.

In recent years I’ve been working in the theatre industry, as the Executive Assistant on a touring and West End musical and more recently as an Associate Producer on various productions with Arden Entertainment.

I continue to handle the PR for a homeless charity based in Sussex. I’m thrilled to have achieved my qualification during 2020 - onwards!
