"Raining cats and dogs"

IDIOMS
"Raining cats and dogs"
Seems to have rather unclear origins as an expression to mean "raining heavily for a prolonged burst".
It’s raining cats and dogs!
First mentioned in 1651 by Henry Vaughan in his collection of poetry named Olor Iscanus.
